April 24, 2011 – Under The Influence
Listen to the podcast of this message here.
I think we say way too much about the crucifixion and spend way too little time contemplating our response.
Our text for Easter is Mark 15:16-41. Mark’s narrative of the execution of Jesus Christ is remarkably brief. One commentator notes, “The text says little, but evokes much.” Please read the text slowly and repeatedly. Note the humiliation and physical pain. Spend time pondering, meditating, and ruminating. What does the text evoke deep within your soul?
What is your response to God being ridiculed, tortured, and nailed to a cross on your behalf?
Scripture Memory Verse
Mark 15:37 “With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.” (NIV)
